Monica's Aca y Alla - Restaurant Review

Monica’s Aca y Alla deftly translates the vibrant, exotic spirit of Mexico into new and inventive, fusion-style contexts. Diners are welcomed into a boisterous dining room, where pulsing salsa music mingles with lively conversation, and lush red walls and yellow banquettes cloak the space in inviting, sunny warmth. The menu is similarly invigorating, blending the traditional flavors of Mexico with globally diverse ingredients and culinary styles to create dishes that are exuberant and flavorful. With live Latin jazz every weekend, salsa dancing, and exceptional happy hour specials, Monica’s Aca y Alla embodies the enchantment of an equatorial escapade without the cost of a plane ticket.

Craft

Transplanted from the hit restaurant that opened in New York in 2002, Craft Dallas maintains owner/chef Tom Colicchio’s original vision – to prepare the best seasonal ingredients simply and with finesse. Open for breakfast, brunch, lunch, and dinner, Craft’s menus offer dishes as diverse as the Short Rib and Shishito Pepper Hash for breakfast and the roasted and braised Muscovy Duck with cranberries for dinner. Every dish is presented on a platter at the center of the table to encourage sharing, and the gesture may extend to divvying up one of the many home-made desserts and pastries.

Overal Rating: 6 Pappadeaux Seafood Kitchen

Address: 3520 Oak Lawn Ave., Dallas, TX 75219 (Map)

Pappadeaux Seafood Kitchen

Perhaps only overshadowed by the epic tale and character for which the restaurant is named, Pappadeaux Seafood Kitchen sources its menu with the bounties of the seas. Visitors may be humored by the story of C.H. Pappadeaux riding the backs of giant fish, but they’re ultimately won over by the impressive catches they get to sample for themselves. Bite down on some genuine Southern fare and savor authentic treats like Fried Frog Legs, “Louisiana” Shrimp Gumbo, and Filet Mignon Oscar. A fine list of Chef Selections rounds out the dinner menu nicely, while the lengthy lunch menu encourages diners to spend some quality time with their favorites before the sun sets on the South.
