Described as “the only true Sardinian Ristorante in the United States” by food writer John Mariani, the combined establishments of Arcodoro and Pomodoro recreate the island of Sardinia, Italy, in Texas. Brothers Elfisio and Francesco Farris share their heritage through the cuisine and culture brought forth in this split restaurant. Arcodoro is a room with a casual atmosphere, for those looking for a place to share a wood fired pizza on the patio, and Pomodoro is more formal, with white tablecloths and candles. Whichever you choose, the menu options are the same in both sections, and include dishes like handmade semolina dumplings with ragu of lamb, and half moon pasta stuffed with veal and mild imported cheeses.

Campisi's

Tickle your Godfather funny bone and visit Campisi’s Restaurant, which opened in 1946. Boasting legitimate ties to the Italian mafia syndicate in Dallas, Campisi’s fed the likes of Jack “Sparky” Ruby the eve of JFK’s assassination – Ruby was suspected of killing Lee Harvey Oswald two days later. But don’t let the impressive history steel the thunder from this restaurant’s home-style menu – the Campisi’s Antipesto Supreme has sliced provolone, salami, Sicilian olives, and pepperoncini peppers, and the Chicken Spinach Alfredo Pizza is made with provolone cheese. Bolla

Part of the upscale Stoneleigh Hotel in uptown Dallas, Bolla compliments the grandeur of the hotel with its posh art deco design. The simple yet elegant prix-fixe menu offers a wide range of Italian inspired American cuisine, like the Rack of Lamb served with a celery root puree, cipollini onions, and covered in an espresso rub. Not only is the food, prepared by local chef David Bull, excellent but the atmosphere of both the restaurant and full bar is terrific for after work, meeting friends, or a romantic evening for two.
